What's the best way to cut rubber mats to size? 

An alternative to ordering custom-made rubber mats is to cut them yourself, as they can be easily and quickly trimmed to size. A carpet knife or utility knife is usually ideal for rubber mats up to 12 mm thick, as most households already have one. To ensure a quick and clean cut, the knife should be placed against a guide rail and pulled quickly and firmly through the mat without lifting it. This step is repeated several times. With each cut, the blade penetrates deeper into the mat until it is completely cut through. 

Please note that using a utility knife may damage the underlying surface. To avoid this, a sturdy surface or a piece of cardboard should be placed under the rubber mat at the desired cutting edge.
